About the Role

The Asia Institute seeks to appoint Senior Tutor (Teaching Specialist) with the capacity to teach in the area of Chinese Studies Program. The Senior Tutor will report to the Program Convenor. As a Teaching Specialist in the position of Senior Tutor, the appointee’s primary responsibility will be to coordinate teaching activities such as, Lectures, tutorials and Language Acquisition seminars

In a typical week at work, you may:

  • Set up and regular maintenance of the relevant subject site on the Learning Management System (LMS/Canvas).
  • Setting assessment tasks, coordinating processes, and recording/reporting component and final results.
  • Assisting program convener in curriculum development and potential intensive and executive teaching initiatives.
  • Resolve student issues or escalate to the relevant Program Convenor/ Head of School where necessary.

About You

You are a team player, a strong leader, a person who shows initiative and the ability to manage and facilitate informed group discussion and activities relating to weekly objectives and to facilitate skills development and practice. Your highly developed organisation skills will enable you to manage one’s own time effectively.

Ideally, you will further have:

  • Completion of a Masters qualification in the relevant discipline or equivalent relative academic or professional or practice based on experience and expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability for excellence in teaching Chinese language at tertiary level.
  • Demonstrated successful tertiary study in the following disciplines: Second Language Acquisition, TESOLS or equivalence.
